What Is My Name?

A short paragraph I had written in my English Literacy class.

My name

Eng Tieng is the name given to me by my grandma. My grandma gives this name to me because she thinks that my face looks like Chinese and she think that this name match to my face. Tieng means positive, independent, creative, inventive, and ingenious and in Chinese Eng mean five. I used to think that I have a strange name and different from my family’s name and all of my friends’ name. Sometimes they also said that my name is so strange they never hear it before, but some of them also said that my name is sound like a Chinese name. I want my name to sound more like Foreigner’s name more like Anna is a great name. Some Foreigner also said my name wrong, but I like that way they call my name (E-Tieng and more). Now, I think that my name is a great name and it matches my personality really well and it also can represent who I am too.

Deal With It

the codeboard design

For this round in Multimedia class, we are focusing on Phyton. Phyton is one of the computer’s language.  For me, I have zero knowledge of Phyton. I’m never learning it before. After I learn it for seven-weeks I started to know more about it and have more knowledge about it. Sometimes I also feel frustrated and struggle with it. However, I still need to deal with it and trying to understand it more and more until I am able to do it by myself. Every week, there a code board assignment for us to do. Sometimes, I don’t know what to do to get the right answer. So, I ask my friends or my teacher for helping to explain to me. If we have some question or don’t know have to do we can ask our teacher or our friends to help us, but we can’t ask them for the answer.

While Loop:

count = 0
while (count < 9):
   print “goodbye”
   count = count + 1

Explain: count equal to zero. while count (zero) is smaller than nine print goodbye. And then the computer will read the next code in the next line count(zero) plus one. So, zero plus one equal to one. Because it is a loop so it will repeat until the count equal 9 it will stop print.

Carbon Is Everywhere

For this round in Stem class, we are focusing on Carbon. So, what is carbon? Carbon is the chemical element of atomic number 6, a non-metal diamond and graphite are the two main forms. Most of the thing contains carbon. Everyone

needs carbon but, carbon also affects climate change. Before I started to learn about carbon I don’t know that Most of the thing contains carbon but, it also affects climate change. We also did some experiment too. The first experiment that we did is the Black Snake experiment.

Argumentative Essay

In this round, we are focusing on writing. First, we were focusing on Social and Environmental Injustice. We did some activity that related to this topic and tried to understand more about this topic. For this topic, we had the Hyperdoc to working on and we also read some article on Newsela.

We also did some debating on Schools should stop the practice of giving letter grades to students. Instead, they should only give written feedback. For this activity, there are two group and the two groups are Agree group and Not Agree group. When we finish our debating we learn about the sources the primary source and the secondary source. The primary source is the first-hand source no copy from other wed/article. The secondary source is the second-hand source. There also the Bais source. The bias source is the source is the force source. We learned all of this source because we are writing the Argumentative essay and we need to know about the source and we use all of this source to support our writing.

Outdoor Leadership

In this term, I got my new exploration and my new exploration is Outdoor Leadership. So, what is Outdoor Leadership mean? Outdoor Leadership means to lead yourself or a group to go outside of the class and explore the beautiful nature. In our class, there is five promises/ core volume there are Problem Solver, Respect Determination, Learning, and Encouragement. Everyone draws their handprint and write on them about what we want to work on, what we excited for, and what we want to learn the most from this class. During our class, we also write about weekly/ trips reflection. We went to two different places and those places are Kirirom and Mondulkiri.

For the first week of this exploration mostly we were focusing on nature understand what is nature and what does nature mean to all of us and everyone has different opinions about nature. For me, nature is almost everything around me. Nature is a producer, creator, protector, teacher, and more. We also make something to represent what does nature mean to us? We also get outside of class to observe nature and find what does nature look like at different places and we did some debate about Is Liger a wilderness? We spend half an hour to do debating and finally we kind of get an idea and understand more about nature. We also did some truth activity there are Fall and Trees And Rope Scenario. We faced some challenges when we do the Trees and Ropes scenario that made us had, but we all talked, we all helped, we all safe and we all succeed.  We also learned about the wilderness first aid and how can we help people in an emergency situation. We did some activity that related to this topic. It is really important that you truth your team made if you don’t truth them sometimes it is so hard to work or communicate in the group and it can cause a lot of problems.

In our second week, we went on a trip to Kirirom and we spend 2 days and 1 night there.

During the trip, e did a lot of team building activity and we also hike to the waterfall for 5km it was so fun and tried when we were hiking to the waterfall. Everything when well and everyone is really happy. When we come back from Kirirom we start to learn about wilderness first-aid we also do some activity that we have the Lead Rescue, Victim, and Assistant. When we did this activity the victim most act like they are in the emergency time and lead rescue need to look after everyone and make sure that they are safe and the assistant just help with the lead rescue asking for. We did this activity just want to practice our lesson and know what it gonna look like when someone is in emergency time and there no hospital near us. Finally, We went to our big trip which is Mondulkiri. Everything still went well like our first trip and we also learn something new have a lot of new experiences there and no one has any big emergency and everyone look really happy and enjoying the time that we have work together.

Multimedia/ Digital Story Telling

In Multimedia class we learned many different subjects. One of the subjects is  Digital Storytelling. So, what is Digital Storytelling? Digital Storytelling is the short form of digital media production that allows everyone to share aspects of their story. We also write a story that follows the Pixar Story Structure and using once upon a time there was, Every day, One day, Because of that, Because of that, Until finally. And this is my story:

“Once upon a time, there was a young girl who born in a wealthy family. Every she has a good food and fancy clothes to wear. One day there was a war happen in that country. Because of the war, her dad died because they kill him with there gun just because of the break the rule. Her family lives in a darkness without fancy cloth, food, and staff anymore. Finally, the war ended. But, her family didn’t have any money for service. So, she needs to work to find the money for her family. Because she is the oldest sister in her family and her mother need to look after her little brother. But, she just 12 years old. Because of that problem she can get just a little amount of money to buy food. Every day she tries really hard. Until one day she has enough money to buy a land to grow vegetables to sell at the market. Finally, her family are happy again and with enough food.”

Set Design

We have different exploration in different rounds. In this round, I have an exploration which is SET DESIGN. This exploration is about creating a Community Traveling Theater that can travel to different community and put on the education show that can tell them what is right and what is wrong. Most theater in Cambodia they just stay at one play it can’t move. So, we decided to make a moveable theater.

To get this project happen we need to try really hard and stay focus. First, we need money to buy a truck we need a truck to make the theater can travel. We need to do the crow founding to promote our project to the world if they can donate us or not. To get that done to need a video of the crow founding website. We decide to go on a trip for 2 days. For the trip, we went to two provinces those two provinces are Kampongcham and Tbung Khum provinces. We also interview some villager and put on an education show. To do this we also facing some problem. The problems are finding the place for the show and get the permission from the owner of the house. When we were preparing our state it was raining really hard so we need to get the thing from the rain and prepare again inside there house. But anyway we still have a lot of audiences.

We are trying really to get those thing done and have the Community Traveling Teather for the people who live in rular area get to see the performance.

Computer Science/ Mutimedia

We just started to learn in this class in August. In this class, it is about how to code and learning some multimedia program like Adobe products such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop. In our first week, we were focusing on researching ex: how to get the credible source? In week two we were focusing on Adobe Indesign, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop. It kind of hard for me learning Adobe Indesign because it has a lot of tools. But, anyway I can understand how to use it.

In this round, we are studying about old English and root words. In one week we learn ten new words. Besides learning the root words, we also have different activities such as reading articles on reading work, newsela and more website. We also draw a picture of our personal narrative and I also write a poem about my personal narrative:

I use to do a lot of things

When I was young

I used to play

I used to look at the airplane

And wonder how big is it

When time arrives

I get to see the airplane in real life

And shock “GOD” it so big

It is bigger than the elephant

In the jungle

This is one of my funny memories

When I was young

 

No one can remember

All of the things they have done

Unless they have the memento

To make them remember

It is better to have one

I wonder how can

It makes us remember

But, now I know how it can be

 

My parents have told me

A lot of advice and I will remember it ever after

Things make me laugh

Things make me sad

Things make me happy

Things make angry

All of that thing is really important

To member

Maybe it not for you

But it is important for me

 

I wonder why I always

Cry when I was young

When I go to school

I need my dad to sit in front of my class

It sounds funny right

But don’t look down at me

Now I’m different

I can stay far from my family

Sometimes I cry because I miss them

Remember all of the things I do at home

But they said “Don’t miss us”

You need to learn how to live by yourself

“Don’t worry we all LOVE YOU

Just do your best and try harder”
